San Luis Obispo is located on the central coast of California, at the approximate mid-point between San Francisco and Los Angeles, and at the center of a burgeoning wine region. The hotel will cater to a broad range of travelers including central coast leisure and business travelers and demand driven by visitors to Cal Poly. The SLO – Hotel San Luis Obispo will be located a halfblock from the historic Mission which reportedly hosts 300 weddings a year, and one block from Higuera Street, the main downtown retail pedestrian thoroughfare. Downtown San Luis Obispo is a pedestrian-friendly area that is a mix of historic buildings, restaurants, art galleries, lifestyle centers, national stores, boutique shops, and government and business offices. It hosts the popular San Luis Obispo County Farmers Market on Thursday nights, an event that draws over 10,000 people weekly. Cal Poly San Luis Obispo (located 1.5 miles from downtown), part of the California State University system, is the City’s largest employer, employing 2,700 people and has over 19,000 students.
